Larry Knotts joins the Security Team with a broad background in IT security. His main role will be monitoring compliance to certification and accreditation standards, which fall under Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA). Before coming to Emory, Larry spent eight years doing security contract work at the CDC for Lockheed Martin, Unisys, and Northrup Grumman, during which he formulated the enterprise-wide security plan and wrote security instructions. He also traveled extensively for the CDC, doing certification and accreditation for 26 international sites.
A native of Norfolk, VA (and self-described “Navy brat”), Larry is an Emory graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English. He began his IT career while at Emory, working as a computer operator in the old Uppergate House. He also has extensive experience in telephony and credit card processing. Larry is also a certified information systems security professional (CISSP).
Larry’s favorite hobbies are riding his motorcycle (an American Ironhorse chopper) and sailing. Larry has three grown daughters and a lovely wife.
