This is a painting named <A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains> painted by Wang Xi Meng when he was 18 years old. This painting is 11.9 meters, one of the longest paintings in 1113. In the drawing there are many mountains, trees, and stones. Wang Xi Meng used various colors to portray the mysterious landscape of the stone mountains. Wang Xi Meng is an artist from the Song Dynasty. He was only eighteen when he drew this painting. He learned art directly under the Song Dynasty’s Emperor Hui Zong. He died when he was 23 years old. This is the only painting of Wang Xi Meng and it is preserved in the Forbidden City of Beijing.

I think Wang Xi Meng’s age influenced his painting. The colors that he mostly uses in this painting are the colors blue and green. The color green represents nature’s beautiful scenery and nature’s awe. Blue symbolizes hope. It seems as though Wang Xi Meng had a positive attitude towards nature. If I could be a character in this painting, I would be lying down on the tallest stone mountain looking across at the farther mountains. My favorite part of this painting is that the trees look so small compared to the mountains. This fact is interesting because if trees are small, people must be even smaller. Therefore this painting is telling us that humans are a mere tiny being in nature and that the everyday worries that we have may not be too big after all.
