Trinity Health is seeking an Epidemiologist for the Trinity Health Fellowship: Community Health & Well-Being. The Trinity Health Fellowship provides a 12-month experience in one of America’s most desired programs for not-for-profit, multi-unit health systems. Trinity Health Fellowship – Community Health & Well-Being – System Office, Livonia, MI   
Community Health & Well-Being’s (CHWB) purpose is to promote optimal health for poor and vulnerable populations and communities we serve by connecting social and clinical care, addressing social needs, dismantling systemic racism and reducing health inequities. The CHWB Fellowship position will provide an opportunity for a recent graduate (i.e. epidemiology, program evaluation or related field) to gain work experience in a rapid paced and dynamic field at the intersection of healthcare and public health. The successful candidate will lead and support CHWB initiatives at the system, regional, and/or local levels.  

The ideal candidate should be able to perform the following tasks:  

  • Design an epidemiologic study to address a health problem
  • Demonstrate an understanding of study design and the advantages and limitations of each design type
  • Design or implement a surveillance system
  • Collect health data from appropriate sources (e.g. case interviews, medical records, vital statistics records, laboratory reports, or pathology reports)
  • Create a database for a health data set
  • Use statistical software to analyze and characterize epidemiologic data
  • Interpret and evaluate findings from epidemiologic studies and surveillance data, including recognition of the limitations of the data and potential sources of bias and/or confounding
  • Recommend control measures, prevention programs, or other public health interventions based on epidemiologic findings.
