Business Research Database Blog Series: Technical training with O’Reilly’s videos, ebooks, audiobooks and case studies

The Emory community has access to a wealth of business research databases. This series highlights many of these great resources, including content and the best applications for classes and career prep.

What You Will Find

O’Reilly (formerly Safari) covers a wide range of technical topics including data visualization, mobile and web development and design, and career development.  There are several Learning Paths providing training for Big Data Applications, Google Analytics, PMP certification, GitHub, Ethical Hacking, and more.

To access O’Reilly’s content, choose “institution not listed” on the O’Reilly database homepage page, and then enter your emory.edu email when prompted.

Use for Class Projects

The video case studies in O’Reilly help you “learn how to avoid mistakes from the pros who made them first.”  They include coverage of Pinterest, Spotify, Slack and more.  These include coverage of business challenges and lessons learned that you can apply in recommendations for client focused projects.

Use for Interview Prep

O’Reilly has several career focused ebooks including The Infographic Resume, The Google Resume, What to Say in Every Job Interview, Outstanding Business English, and more.  They also include career exploration resources such as Cracking the Tech Career.

Additional Business Resources

You can also use the Business Research Guide to locate additional business resources, locate tips for how to use them, and understand which are best for your specific research needs.
