GBS Faculty, Jeff Rosensweig, Shares A Few of His Favorite Business Books

Professor Jeff Rosensweig recently sat down with Nora McKenzie, Goizueta Business Librarian. As part of our ongoing series, GBL Shorts: Favorite Business Book, when asked “what is your favorite business book and why, Jeff shared not just one, but three books!

His first book is False Economy by Alan Beattie. The author, a writer for The Financial Times, talks about the global economy, starting with an historical perspective and discussing the history of economic globalization. Jeff commented that the book is extremely well-written and with a light touch which makes it easy to read and to follow.

The other two books the Jeff talks about are on leadership. In The Leader’s Bookshelf, by Admiral James Stavridis and R. Manning Ancell, the authors surveyed over 200 active and retired four-star military officers, asking each for a list of books that strongly influenced their leadership skills and provided them with special insights that helped propel them to success. The Leader’s Bookshelf synthesizes their responses, resulting in a list of the top 50 leadership books. For each title, the authors include information about the book and highlights key take-a-ways. Based on the ranking and recommendations from his peers, Jeff was inspired to read The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara, which was ranked #1 and explores the strategy used at Gettsburg.

If your curiosity has been piqued – all three books are available for you to download and read via the Overdrive database.
