Aspen went from a being a ghost, small mining town to a place where skiing, leisure, wealth and culture predominate. Friedl Pfeifer and Walter Paepcke were two crucial characters in envisioning Aspen as the place it is now and making the necessary changes and investments towards it. Aspen’s Europeanization by its visionaries attracted a specific crowd, which has impacted the audience of Aspen today.
