Alex Kyrychenko (pronounced “kee-ree-CHAN-ko”) is the Learning Commons coordinator. He came to the Library in 2009 after working in ECIT for four years. “Our goal,” says Alex, “is to provide a unified user experience throughout the campus.”
Alex is graduating this semester with PhD in Religion from Emory. He received two Master’s degrees from Abilene Christian University, a Master’s of Divinity, and a Master’s of Arts in New Testament. Alex also received a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering at the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, Ukraine.
Born in Dubno, Ukraine as the son of a Soviet Air Force Engineer, Alex moved around a lot, growing up in the Ukraine, Germany, the Republic of Georgia, England, and finally in the United States.
Alex is scholar of Roman military history and even does re-enactments as a Roman soldier. Having just finished his dissertation and working a full-time job, Alex barely has time for anything else! He does watch movies with his wife and two children. His son is a freshman at Georgia Tech in mechanical engineering.
“I love working at Emory,” says Alex, “I know a lot of faculty here and have really enjoyed getting back to my technical roots. My current role allows me to incorporate both my interests in technology and education.”
