In his role as Coordinator of the Computing Center at Cox Hall, Tony Shiver has guided the day-to-day operations of the Computing Center for nearly 10 years. On June 1, he will assume the role of Manager of Student Services, the team on which he’s worked since its inception.
Tony will manage several services that shape the student computing experience at Emory including Pharos Enterprise printing, graduate and undergraduate labs and kiosks, the Woodruff Library Learning Commons and Student Technology Support.
Before coming to Emory, Tony was a Computer Support Specialist at the University System Board of Regents for 5 years, specializing in Usability and Design for online education and technology.
A graduate of The University of Georgia Grady School of Journalism with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Tony developed a curiosity in technology while working as a A/V Technology Support Specialist at UGA’s Instructional Resources Center.
Tony was born in Florence, South Carolina and moved to Albany, Georgia when he was 7 years old. Outside of work, he enjoys playing flag football, running, “training” his puppy Roscoe and working around the house with his partner, Landon.
Tony’s quote, “This change is bittersweet considering I have worked side-by-side with Kim Braxton (literally 10 feet away) for almost 10 years. More than just a manager, Kim has been a great teacher, mentor and friend. Looking forward, I am excited about what’s in store for ATS and the role I’ll play in ensuring its continued excellence and success.”
