Last month, Venise Lee (Enterprise Services) and her daughter Melissa Lay completed a 2-year journey of hair growth when they donated their hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit that provides hairpieces for disadvantaged children who have suffered permanent medical hair-loss.

Melissa, whose hair grows extremely fast, has donated her hair five times and encouraged Venise to participate this time in honor of Venise’s mother Vivian, who passed away in 2012.

At the time of the donation, Venise gave 13 inches of hair while Melissa gave 20 inches. Locks of Love requires at least 10 inches of hair to make a single hairpiece.

Venise donated her hair at Genesis by Salon 124 in Loganville, GA, where Neisha was her stylist. They will do a cut and style for free to anyone donating to Locks of Love.

“There are a lot of little girls who don’t have hair in the world and it made us feel wonderful to donate,” said Venise. “It also certainly helped us cool down for the summer.”
