Rachelle Jones was recently added to the laboratory information management system (LIMS) team as a LIMS business analyst. She comes to the team after spending five years at the Emory Transplant Center, where she served as the manager of their bio repository. She also spent time as a research specialist and was later promoted to senior research specialist.
Before coming to Emory, Rachelle spent two years as a cardiovascular dissector at Cryolife in Kennesaw, GA, where she procured cardiovascular tissue. She has also had previous experience in research and development.
A graduate of Southern Polytechnic Institute in Marietta, GA, Rachelle has a bachelor’s degree in biology with a concentration in biochemistry. She is also in school in the Rollins School of Public Health to earn her master’s degree in their executive MPH program, which she expects to finish next year. Her concentration is in epidemiology.
Born in Grand Rapids, MI, Rachelle’s family moved to New Orleans where she was raised. She came to Atlanta in 1999. Rachelle is an avid reader and she loves to cook. “I like to find exotic things online and see if I could make them,” said Rachelle. Her favorite dish is a shrimp stew from Trinidad and Tobago.
“The lab that I previously worked for was one of the first labs to have a LIMS environment on campus,” said Rachelle. “So I’m excited to now help other labs enjoy the benefit of having LIMS.”
