Leslie Wingate has assumed the mantle of Director of Campus and Community Relations, following a thorough search to fill the position vacated by the retirement of Ginger Smith last year.
For the past 12 years, Leslie has served as the senior director of alumni programs in the Emory Alumni Association. In this role, she headed the team that performed all high-level programming for alumni, which included events coordinated across the country and abroad.
Before coming to Emory, Leslie spent over three years as the stewardship and development director for All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta. She also spent ten years as the executive director of the French-American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta. A graduate of Emory, Leslie’s liberal studies degree focused on French and she is a fluent speaker.
Leslie was born in Alexandria, VA, but soon moved overseas when her father became a diplomat with the United States Foreign Service. Her family lived in Russia, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Bulgaria, and Leslie spent her high school years in a small boarding school in the southwest of England.
When she’s not in the office, Leslie loves yoga, hiking, and traveling.
“As a manager, I have an open-door policy, and I try to build strong relationships with my team,” said Leslie. “I clearly work with a group of highly talented, dedicated individuals who have already inspired me with the passion they have for their work and for Emory. I look forward to great things ahead with this team.”
