Beth Shoemaker joined the Rose staff late last year as a rare book cataloger. Before her work at Emory, Beth spent over two years as the catalog and resource access librarian at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA, where she performed original and complex cataloging for the library collections.
Beth holds an MLIS degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as well as a DMA from the University of Oregon. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in music from Arizona State University.
She was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. Commenting about coming to Atlanta, “people have been really welcoming,” said Beth. “Even though there’s a lot of traffic, people are still very polite! I used to live in Philadelphia, which was crazy.”
When she’s not working, Beth chases after her five-year-old son around the outdoors, zoos, aquariums, and botanical gardens.
“The staff in the Rose Library are very passionate and dedicated to what they do,” added Beth. “We get to work with fantastic materials.”
