This year’s Library Employee Advocacy Forum (LEAF) held a pair of events recently and has one last event scheduled for next month, as their final work before the new LEAF committee is announced in June.
LEAF held its spring blood drive on April 13. On an absolutely gorgeous day the students and staff turned out in record numbers and made 31 blood donations, with an additional 9 deferred donations. When you consider that one blood donation can save up to three lives (according to LifeSouth) it is easy to see how donating blood makes a significant impact in our community.
The April LEAF Coffee was an outdoors coffee event held on April 19 on the Woodruff Library patio outside the Jones Room in honor of Earth Day. The Wellness Committee provided healthy snacks, LEAF brewed the coffee, and there were a pair of presentations from Dawn Francis-Chewning, who gave a primer on how to recycle correctly, and Taylor Spicer of the Office of Sustainability Initiatives (OSI), who discussed sustainability initiatives in 2017.
The final LEAF event for the current committee will be a LEAF coffee on May 9, in the Jones Room in Woodruff Library. Stay tuned for more information and come by to thank your LEAF representatives who have donated so much time this school year.
