Geoffrey Cestaro joins the Project Management Office in University IT and Research Solutions as an information systems analyst. Prior to coming to Emory (this time), Geoffrey spent nine years as the deputy chief of development systems at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Geoffrey once worked at Emory back in the early 2000’s. He started as a computing support specialist in the Department of Human Genetics (SOM) and was promoted to supervising research project coordinator, working with Dr. Stephanie Sherman on her Fragile X Syndrome research project.
Born and raised in Mineola, NY (Long Island), Geoffrey holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University and a master’s degree in technology management from Columbia University. He is also a certified ScrumMaster and working on his PMP certification this year.
Geoffrey loves online learning websites like Udemy, healthy cooking and eating out, and watching movies with friends. He is fascinated by leadership ideas coming out of Silicon Valley. “I love to nerd out by reading books on the subject,” said Geoffrey. “The key to applying them in the real world, however, is understanding that most organizations are not Silicon Valley tech firms.”
Regarding his new job with Emory, Geoffrey said, “I knew after my first interview that the people in LITS were not just smart but open to different personality types that tend to gravitate toward tech careers. I feel very comfortable here and I’m looking forward to learning and growing as a team as we tackle challenges together to make sure Emory is well situated to remain a world leader in research, education and healthcare.”
