The Annual LITS Chili Cook-Off/Dessert Bake-Off was held this week on a beautiful fall day. Over 150 folks were in attendance.
LITS employees from throughout the division flocked to the 1762 parking lot to partake in a wide array of chilis (21 submissions) and desserts (8 submissions).
Danny Bridges (PeopleSoft administration) continues to reign supreme as chili champion. In winning the title this year (selected in a blind taste test by judges who change each year), Danny has now finished first four times and has been in the top three 6 out of the past 8 years. His victory was not without challenges however, as a steering mishap caused him to lose about a third of his award-winning chili onto the floorboard of his car on the way to work. Anand Mahajani (school of medicine) finished second with his amazing vegetarian entry. Andrew Chin (database administration) finished third for the second year in a row.
For the desserts and costumes, Camille Hyatt (financial ops) won first place with her delectable “apple dapple cake.” This is her third dessert championship. Celeste Hermida (financial ops) came in second and Ken Blacow (enterprise IT security) finished third. Perry Eidson (network engineering) won the costume contest as Santa Claus, edging out John Fries (critical infrastructure) and his very realistic Magnum PI costume. Sandra Harrison (business and administration) won the bronze medal for her Olympian costume.
