New article honors the life and times of Pellom McDaniels III

Emory Libraries honored Pellom McDaniels III this week with an interactive article that showcases his life and scholarly contributions. Written by Maureen McGavin and designed by Norman Hulme, with input from the  Rose Library and from Advancement & Alumni Relations, “Lifting Every Voice” puts into perspective his magnificent impact on Emory and the larger world.

“This immersive story about Pellom helps us fully appreciate all that he accomplished,” said Leslie Wingate, director of CCR.

“Pellom’s gift was that he always saw the possibility and the opportunity,” said Rose Library director Jennifer Gunter King. “His interest was in making the connections happen, making the collections meaningful, finding partners, exploring the possibilities, and really giving life to ideas.”

Included in the article are links to a series of events honoring Pellom during the Decatur Book Festival. The first event, hosted by the Rose Library, is a Film and Creativity Conversation: “Flash Here and There Like Falling Stars: The Life and Work of Dr. Pellom McDaniels III,” to be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. To register, go to this link.
