The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment Laboratory

Welcome to The LUMeN Lab at Emory

Welcome to the Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment (LUMeN) Lab directed by Dr. Ali Cohen. We conduct our research in Emory University’s Department of Psychology, Child Study Center, and Facility for Education and Research in Neuroscience (FERN). Our research aims to shed light on how motivation and emotion influence learning, memory, and brain function across development. This work may ultimately inform strategies that leverage adaptive developmental changes in motivated learning and memory mechanisms to improve learning, decision-making, and outcomes for young people.

The LUMeN Lab’s mission is to ignite scientific curiosity and share knowledge to brighten the lives of youth and their families. Please explore our website to learn more about our work and ways to get involved!
