What’s in a Page? Re-Reading Shakespeare’s Four Folios

In our first video blog post, we share Emory PhD candidate Justin Shaw’s lecture on what readers can learn about the production, contexts, contents, and global implications of Shakespeare’s works by honing in on the title pages of each of the four 17th century folios.

Justin Shaw is a PhD student in English literature at Emory University. His research engages issues of race, disease, and disability in early modern literature and culture. Currently, he works as site manager and curator for Shakespeare and the Players, an online archive of Victorian and Edwardian theatrical postcards, and is an Andrew W. Mellon intern for the exhibition The New World in the Age of Shakespeare at Emory’s Michael C. Carlos Museum.
