Population Growth and Sprawl

An issue posing Atlanta as a whole, was the projected population growth that was expected to continue into the 2020s. With this came the previously mentioned issue of sprawl. Atlanta was one of the least densified cities in Atlanta, consisting of many spread out communities that created an automobile dependency.  Atlantic Station hoped their environmentally friendly and self sufficient property would attract the growing population and in turn do its part in reducing Atlanta traffic and pollution from cars, as its inhabitants would be able to walk from place to place within.

Plans for Atlantic Station were influenced by the environmental, social and economic demands of the time.
