Celebrate Constitution Day at Emory Libraries: Puzzles, Pictures, Pocket Constitutions, and Paraphernalia

Emory Libraries is happy to participate in the Emory University celebration of Constitution Day on Sept. 17, 2025. Initially launched in 2004, the date commemorates the original signing of the Constitution (not ratification) at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Not only do we take time to reflect upon the promise of this foundational document, but also to consider the demands and expectations of citizenship (in particular, those who have made the decision to adopt it as their own).

At our Woodruff and MacMillan Law libraries, we have pulled selected documents and materials from our government documents collection (both the Woodruff and Law Libraries are Federal Depository Libraries) that highlight the often contested conceptions of citizenship and naturalization, such as training manuals and materials for candidates, and previous constitutional commemorations (such as the bicentennial in 1987). You may also want to take advantage of our digital collections, such as the Making of Modern Law, which include past constitutional celebrations. Finally, we will have pocket constitutions on hand for the taking, coloring books, and several relevant puzzles for you to assemble!
