Field Interview Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for supervising a team of approximately 30-35 field research interviewers to ensure that the survey administration is conducted according to research protocol. Assists in the recruitment and selection of field interviewers as well as their orientation and training, and provides ongoing performance feedback based on quality control reviews of completed interviews. Maintains ongoing communication with all field researchers as well as with the principal investigator, co-principal investigator, and research coordinator. Performs related responsibilities as required. Reports to Research Administrative Coordinator.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: This is a part-time position (approximately 20-30 hours per week) with Emory’s Policy Analysis Laboratory running from mid-March through the end of July 2019. We are seeking a Field Interview Supervisor for a large field research project involving face-to-face interviews with 1,250 low- and moderate-income households receiving public housing assistance in the greater Atlanta area. The project will examine how the receipt of housing assistance and related social services aids low- and moderate -income persons and families in improving their quality of life and moving toward economic self-sufficiency. The Field Interview Supervisor will primarily be responsible for ensuring quality interviews, managing interviewer schedules and invoices, and maintaining records on giftcard receipts and consent forms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a related social science field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Prefer candidates with previous field research experience.

SALARY: $20 – $25/hr based on experience and qualifications.

Research Administrative Coordinator

The American Mock World Health Organization (AMWHO), 4/5-7

The American Mock World Health Organization (AMWHO) is a nonprofit organization that hosts an annual conference simulation of the World Health Assembly. In our sixth year, the 2019 AMWHO International Conference theme is on “Breaking the Stigma: Sexual and Reproductive Health,” which will focus on developing creative solutions to health concerns involving four primary sub-themes: Maternal and Newborn Health, Adolescent Health, Middle Age and Elder Health, and Reproductive Health and Rights.

Students register to represent either a WHO Ambassador, NGO Representative, Media Correspondent, or UN Agency. In representing a role, students learn of the critical debate and policy-making tools necessary for a future career in global health policy. The conference simulation invites over 200 delegates from across the country and world to discuss policies regarding improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes in the six WHO regions, and will offer networking opportunities with professionals from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. ICF seeks to hire a research coordinator at the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) National Coordination Office (NCO) to support federal interagency working groups and initiatives, primarily in the area of climate change and human health. The successful candidate will serve as the primary facilitation and coordination support to the USGCRP’s Interagency Crosscutting Climate Change and Human Health Group (CCHHG), foster the integration of health activities and expertise in other areas of the Program, and provide coordination support as needed to interagency efforts in other areas of Program need.

The USGCRP coordinates and integrates global change research and supporting activities conducted by 13 Federal Agencies and Departments. It is overseen by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) of the Executive Office of the President and by representatives from the 13 member agencies. The day-to-day activities and operations of the USGCRP are facilitated by the USGCRP NCO.  The NCO is responsible for promoting interagency coordination and integration of Federal climate and global change research programs and facilitating international cooperation.

Key Responsibilities of the Successful Candidate:

Coordination and support of the CCHHG:

  • Works with the CCHHG Federal co-chairs to conceptualize, plan, and execute CCHHG monthly meetings and intersessional calls.
  • Supports the co-chairs in managing CCHHG meetings, including scheduling, materials distribution, and follow-up.
  • Assists the CCHHG with communications, member requests, and general inquiries.

Project management and support of CCHHG projects and initiatives.

  • Works with the CCHHG federal co-chairs and NCO leadership to provide support for planning, execution, and management of CCHGG events (e.g. conference exhibitions and sessions, workshops, etc.).
  • Manages and supports development, review, and editorial processes of CCHHG work products (e.g. fact sheets, workshop reports, special assessments).
  • Provides logistical, technical, and meeting support for individual project task teams as they form under CCHHG.

Summer Practicum Experience: I spent the summer working on my dream practicum in Oakland, CA with Ibis Reproductive Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing rigorous research and principled partnerships to advance sexual and reproductive autonomy, choices, and health worldwide. My work mostly entailed quantitative and qualitative analysis for several projects, including a randomized controlled trial of a smartphone app to provide women in Indonesia access to information about medication abortion. After my summer internship, I have continued my work with Ibis as a consultant. My supervisor, Ruvani (also a Rollins Epi grad!), remains one of my most trusted mentors, helping guide my trajectory both at RSPH and within the SRH field.

Primary Function of Position:

  • The Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Team is seeking a highly motivated, hard-working, professional data analyst and economic modeler to help develop, design, and deliver health economic modeling (e.G. Cost effectiveness analysis/CEA, budget impact modeling/BIM, etc.) and translational research projects.
  • The contractor will lead health economic modeling projects, participate in HEOR evidence generation activities, and provide analytical and consultative support to relevant internal functions. Specifically, the contractor will analyze large healthcare databases, performed targeted or systematic literature review, conduct economic modeling studies, and deliver the results via publications and/or visualized dashboards/tools.
  • The contractor will also be responsible for presenting and interpreting the results/findings to internal corporate colleagues in cross-functional teams.
  • He/she will provide data, literature, and modeling consultative support to the other members within in HEOR and colleagues from other departments.

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Master’ s degree in health informatics, statistics, economics, health services research, epidemiology, public health, or related field
  • Knowledge of health economic modeling techniques, including decision analysis
  • Proficient of Microsoft Office, TreeAge, and statistical software (e.G. R. SAS or STATA)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in team environment

Epi Ground Rounds: Spacial Clustering and Infectious Disease Control, 3/8

Waterborne Diseases Student Worker, due 3/15

Job Summary

This position will primarily conduct specific Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) activities related to surveillance for and epidemiologic studies of waterborne enteric infectious pathogens; in particular, Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora, and Giardia.  This position will also assist in epidemiological investigation of outbreaks of communicable disease and participate in data collection using structured telephone interviews, data entry, and data management in epidemiological studies to describe illness and identify risk factors for infections caused by the pathogens

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education with some coursework related to the work of the position.  Applicants must provide relevant coursework information in their application materials to ensure credit.

Student Worker Eligibility:

To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker ParaProfessional Senior you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months.  Students may be “off” for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year.  If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits.  If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter.  Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off.  Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation.  You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pursuing a Master in Public Health majoring in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or related field. 

Ability to understand and effectively carry out basic oral and written instructions regarding work assignments. 

Basic knowledge of computer databases in order to perform data entry and summary reports. 

Ability to work independently. 

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and adapt to change. 

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Critical thinking skills and judgement.

Demonstrate interest in disease prevention (e.g., public health, health promotion).

TB Surveillance Epidemiologist, Maryland Department of Health

Main Purpose Of Job

The Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA)’s mission is to improve the health of Marylanders by reducing the transmission of infectious diseases; helping impacted persons live longer and healthier lives, and protecting individuals and communities from environmental health hazards. The Infectious Disease Bureau works in partnership with local health departments, providers, community-based organizations, public, and private sector agencies, in order to provide public health leadership in the prevention, control, monitoring, and treatment of infectious diseases and environmental health hazards.

The mission of the Center for TB Control and Prevention is to control the spread of tuberculosis in Maryland; prevent new infections, and increase the access to care and treatment for people diagnosed with tuberculosis. This position will be responsible for managing the statewide tuberculosis database for the Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention. This position will also be responsible for the collection, compilation and general analysis of tuberculosis data on TB cases, as well as on immigrants and refugees who present a high risk of TB.

This position will be the primary contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), regarding monthly data summaries. In addition, this position will be the primary liaison with local health departments, out-of-state health departments and reporting laboratories, regarding TB cases and individuals with latent TB infection (LTBI). Furthermore, this position will serve as a TB surveillance authority within the Center and work with other Center staff to develop appropriate policies and procedures, regarding surveillance data management.

Finally, this position will function as the primary surveillance contact point to CDC and adhere to state and national laws, as well as guidelines and standards specific to data security, patient confidentiality and electronic data management. This position will remain apprised of current literature and issues in these areas of investigation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in the field of Public Health from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of three graduate courses in Epidemiology and one graduate course in Biostatistics.

Experience: None.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Care Science classifications, or Clinical Lab, Medical Scientists or Bio Medical Lab Officer specialty codes in the health research field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience with tuberculosis or other infectious disease surveillance and epidemiology.
