ORISE Fellow: Surveillance Epidemiologist

Position Description: The Domestic WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) Epidemiology Team is looking for an ORISE Fellow to join its surveillance program. The ORISE Fellow will be trained in the epidemiologic and informatics techniques needed to conduct national surveillance for cases of waterborne disease in the United States. The ORISE Fellow will learn epidemiologic and informatics techniques to collect, provision, and analyze national case surveillance data for waterborne pathogens, including how to describe epidemiologic trends and to prepare analytic results for publication on websites, fact sheets, and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The ORISE Fellow will learn how to communicate with state and federal partners on surveillance activities to provide technical assistance and write clear guidance materials.

Qualifications: A recent MPH graduate in the field of epidemiology, with strong data management skills, excellent communication and written skills, attention to detail, and a good team player. Some environmental health or informatics training/background desirable.

Organization Description: The Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch works to maximize the health, productivity, and well-being of people in the United States and around the globe by preventing domestic and global water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)-related disease. The Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch (WDPB) is in the Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases (DFWED) in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) at CDC.
