COVID-19 & the Federal Budget Panel Discussion, 11/11
Category : News/Events
Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has focused attention on the nation’s health care system. Much of that attention has understandably been devoted to strategies for combating the virus, which has infected millions of Americans and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, devastated the economy, and contributed to a ballooning federal debt. Controlling the virus is a public health issue but also an essential element of any plan to revive the economy and stabilize the budget.
Looking forward, the focus of attention will inevitably shift back to longer-term health care issues such as coverage, quality and costs that pre-existed the pandemic. How should policymakers address these issues and how, if at all, has the pandemic affected the policy options?
Please join this panel of experts including Robert Bixby, Executive Director of the non-partisan Concord Coalition, Dr. Kenneth Thorpe, Professor and Chair of the Health Policy and Management Department at Emory University and Dr. Jodie Guest, Professor and Vice Chair of the Epidemiology Department at Emory University.
