Event Description

Calling all cooks, bakers, and lovers of the culinary arts!

We are coordinating inviting you to the first ever “Great Epi Cook-off” on Friday, April 9th 2021 from 5:00 – 6:30PM EST.

This event will feature 12 of the best chefs and bakers of our department facing off in a sizzling head-to-head competition. Each participant is asked to prepare a dish of their choosing prior to the start of the virtual event on April 9th. At the event, participants will be invited to speak for approximately 5 minutes about what their dish is and precisely why it should entitle them to be named this year’s top cook of Emory epi. Much like popular cooking shows such as “chopped” or “iron chef”, participants are encouraged to not only explain what their dish is to the judges, but also where the inspiration came from and what techniques were utilized to complete the masterpiece.

Celebrity judges will give each participant a score based on visual appearances of their dish and the description provided. While not required, inspiration pulled from our coursework will be received with the utmost support. Judges will choose a winner (top cook of Emory epi) and audience members will be able to vote on their pick (the audience choice winner) with both winners being rewarded with a curated prize pack.

If you desire to participate in this competition, please sign up by completing this form. Entries will be capped at 12 participants with notifications going out by Thursday, April 8th.

Alternatively, if you are not interested in participating but would still like to observe, don’t pan-ic, a zoom link will be sent out to all students the day of the event. Additionally, a zoom cocktail hour will be encouraged for 30 minutes after the event for both participants and observers.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Katy (kathryn [dot] krupinsky [at] emory [dot] edu) or Sandra (sandra [dot] amouzou [at] emory [dot] edu)
