Over the last 20 years, there has been a huge increase in the number of skiers wearing a helmet. However, ski helmets have been around for 75 years! This podcast will begin by speaking about ski helmets that were used starting in 1947 up until the present day. With each helmet, there will be supplemental research showing how effective each helmet was at preventing head injuries. There is a theory that ski helmets are not very effective in preventing head injuries and a skier is better off without one. This podcast puts this theory to the test by looking at studies that show a helmet’s true effectiveness.
