I would like to do my podcast on an approaching apocalypse; basing my conclusion on the blood moon prophecy, and explaining how the recent lunar eclipse is signaling the ending of the world. I plan on taking advantage of the auditory format by being over dramatic, bringing outside sources and bringing in sound effects. I believe it will be successful because it’s involving current events and the use of effects and sources; similarly, to the War of the Worlds broadcast. The War of World broadcast brought in guest speakers and had very dramatic scenes full of emotion and excitement which were effective and convincing; I plan to use these tactics in my podcast to win over my listeners and earn their belief.

Nice–I like how topical this is. It’s so recent you could potentially even get testimony from actual people who heard apocalypse rumors in the past couple of weeks.
I think a War of the Worlds style podcast could be effective here, and you could pull in a lot of the strategies you mention. I also wonder what a more analytical take would look like: something more like the Radiolab about War of the Worlds rather than the broadcast itself. There’s a lot of ways you could approach this project–it’s worth thinking through what would be most feasible in 3-5 minutes!
