This is great, Eli! I love the two different authority figures and how you lay out the believability of the hoax due to people’s reliance on social media for information, and to the rapid pace of tech development. I am also lol-ing looking at pictures online of people’s phones on fire.
One thought–you talk in the podcast about how Apple used marketing strategies to spread this around, but I think this was a 4Chan thing. Would it make more sense to talk about it that way? Because then you could also get in a little segment about how they were able to copy Apple’s really distinctive advertising brand and tap into Apple’s authority–yet another rhetorical appeal!
