Lee Pasackow, business librarian, was recently elected President of the Fulbright Association, GA. chapter. With the support of the U.S. government and through binational partnerships with foreign governments, the Fulbright Scholarship Program sponsors U.S. and foreign participants for exchanges in multiple disciplines including the sciences, business, public service, government, and the arts to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.
The Georgia chapter organizes events for alumni and visiting scholars and students throughout the year. The highlight of the events calendar is an overnight trip to a destination in the state or neighboring state to learn and experience the local culture and history. Last year’s destination was Americus where 60 students had a private meeting with President and Mrs. Carter.
Lee is happy to serve as a resource for any who is considering applying for a Fulbright grant. More information on grants for librarians can be found on the Specialist page. Fulbright offers a variety of programs including inviting a Visiting Scholar to campus who is currently doing research or teaching at another university in the U.S. If LITS would like to invite such a scholar to campus, Fulbright pays the transportation and Emory would only need to cover the housing. Search this list to see who is currently in the country.
