Amy Allison is the new Associate Director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library, effective October 1, 2014.

Amy has 15 years of professional experience, with 6+ years in a leadership role. She received her Master of Library Science degree from Clark Atlanta University in 1998 and is currently working on an MPH from Emory with a graduation date of 2016. From 1999 to 2007, Amy held positions at the Swilley Library of Mercer University and during 2003-07, she was the public services librarian and assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

From December 2007-2008, Amy was the clinical informationist at the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library, Emory University. From 2009 onwards, she has held the position of Head of Clinical Informationist Services at the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library, Emory University. Amy has led the team of clinical informationists (professional librarians) through a period of rapid growth in support of all of the Emory Healthcare hospitals.

Amy has partnered with faculty to teach credit courses. She has taught non-credit courses, conducted guest lectures and professional presentations, and published articles in professional publications. WHSC Library director, Sandra Franklin, states “Amy is well prepared to assume this leadership role and I am excited to incorporate her knowledge of Emory and our complex health sciences environment into WHSC Library and LITS goals and initiatives.”

Born in Wisconsin but raised in Irving, TX, Amy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Baylor University.

“I do homework for fun these days,” says Amy. She also enjoys hiking and working in her garden.

“The staff at the health sciences library are talented people who are committed to quality work that contributes to the goals of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and of the university,” says Amy. “I am excited to work with the staff in this new capacity.”
