“If someone is paying a good amount to go to school here, the systems that are being used to teach should be top notch.” – Steve Witte.

In Steve Witte‘s new role, he will augment the work he has already been doing by helping to manage the service contract with the main vendor for ClassTech, Avyve, which is an AV design integrator and repair branch. Steve has been at Emory since 1999, working as a business analyst and media specialist.

Before Emory, Steve worked for five years as an AV technician for a private audiovisual company called Corporate Audiovisual.

Born in Roswell, New Mexico (“I’m from the other UFO place”), Steve’s Air Force family moved to Germany, then Cincinnati, OH, Louisville, Ky, and Brevard, NC. Steve did some college work at Brevard College, the Atlanta College of Art, and the Corcoran School of Art, before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Virginia Commonwealth University.

When Steve isn’t working, he spends time with his wife and kids. He also plays guitar, maintains a massive music library (he was music director of a college radio station), and goes hiking. His other interests range from history to theology to current events.

“In this job, I love to make everybody happy, especially faculty, said Steve. “When you’re in there teaching, you don’t want to have to worry about something breaking down on you. I am a strong advocate for updating rooms because the way I figure it, if someone is paying a good amount to go to school here, the systems that are being used to teach should be top notch.”
