Susan Greene (project manager, PMO) and her partner Linda have eight pets: two horses, three dogs, and three cats: Buddy, DD, Stormy, Scarlett, Blackie, Spencer, Josie, and Gracie!
Buddy is a Tennessee Walking horse that they rescued from a bad situation back in 2011. The vet thinks he looks to be around 25 years old. He is scared of most everything and is spoiled rotten.
DD, whose registered name is Delilah Ablaze, is a quarter horse mare. At 9 years old, she loves to buck and kick.
Regarding the three dogs, Spencer is a poodle/basset hound mix, with curly white hair that does not shed! Spencer was adopted when he was just a few weeks old. Now 13 years old, he is starting to slow down a little bit, but he still wants to go out and feed the horses everyday.
Gracie is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, and boy does it ever show. She is a feisty little girl at the great age of 13. She would rather stay in the house if at all possible, but she occasionally goes out to briefly see the horses.
The last dog is Josie, or Josephine, when she is a bad girl. They adopted Josie from the DeKalb County Humane shelter in Georgia back around 2005. They are not sure what breed she is, but she has some hound and a little chow, Susan thinks. Josie loves to go exploring and you really have to keep her in sight because of the hound in her. She puts that nose to the ground and just goes.
On to the three cats, where they rescued Stormy right after the horrible April, 2011 tornadoes in Alabama. Stormy lost both her human mom, as well as her cat momma. She and her two siblings were found under the rubble of the garage. Stormy does not really care for anyone and would rather just be left alone. She loves to sleep all day in the dog’s beds.
Blackie came along next. Linda found him outside by the back door one evening starving. A long-haired solid-colored black cat, Blackie is huge and loves to be loved on. He gets pushed around by his other cat siblings but he loves the dogs, especially Spencer!
Someone dumped Scarlett out at Susan’s house about two winters ago. She is the most affectionate little kitty, loving to be brushed all day, especially the grand kids.
Said Susan, “Linda and I both love animals as you can see and we really appreciate that they let us live with them! They are all inside critters, well except for the horses.”
