Mike Lewis (systems architect, systems engineering) recently completed his sixth AWS certification and was notified that he was in a select group of individuals who had completed all five core AWS certifications. Kevin Niekirk from AWS Educational Services informed Mike that he is in a group of fewer than 3,000 people in the world who carry all the certifications.
The Linux Academy reached out to Mike last month and wanted to do an article on their website regarding his educational journey.
Mike says, “To be successful in IT you always need to be learning the new technologies.” He adds, “I’ve always been looking for the next new technology. Cloud and AWS seemed like the next logical step.”
For Mike, the key to his success with the Linux Academy is the self-paced learning environment. In the past, scheduling training around his job was very difficult. By taking the classes online, at his own pace, and with the hands-on practice examples, Mike was able to get the training he needed, retain more of the content, and keep his management team appraised of his progress.
Mike’s manager, Steve Siegelman, set up his engineers with a team account for Linux Academy, which has helped them more easily schedule the training they need.
