Georgia Crisis & Access Line (GCAL)
GCAL is the 24/7 hotline for accessing mental health services in Georgia. Reach GCAL by calling 1-800-715-4225.

National Suicide Lifeline (NSPL)
The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals. NSPL is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. National Crisis Text Line
Text 741741 from anywhere in the USA to text with a trained Crisis Counselor. Every texter is connected with a Crisis Counselor, a real-life human being trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem-solving.

Respect Program

Student Intervention Services (SIS) Team


SIS consists of trained professionals who help students find balance by providing support and resources and 24-hour crisis intervention. Concerned students, parents, and faculty can contact the SIS team by calling (404) 430-1120.


Counseling & Psychological Services


Emory University’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) provides free, confidential services for students including:  initial assessments, crisis intervention, community referrals, brief individual, couples, and group counseling; consultation; community outreach services; and educational workshops.


An Emory student interested in arranging an appointment can call (404) 727-7450 or visit CAPS between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. CAPS is located at 1462 Clifton Road, Suite 235.


Respect Program


The Respect Program is Emory’s central hub for interpersonal violence prevention and survivor resiliency. If you are seeking support or someone to talk to, you can reach Respect Advocate Wanda Swan at (404) 727-1514 or wanda [dot] swan [at] emory [dot] edu.


Tobacco Cessation


Through the Substance Abuse Risk Reduction program, Emory provides support to current smokers as well as the resources necessary to quit.

Emory HelpLine


HelpLine (HL) is an anonymous, peer counseling telephone hotline that serves the Emory community. It is open from 8:30 PM-1:00 AM, 7 days per week during the regular academic year and closes for all major student holidays.  Both the individuals who call the HL and the individuals who staff the HL remain anonymous.  If you are a student with a non-urgent mental health situation, the HelpLine can be reached at (404) 727-4357 (HELP). 


Student Health Services


Emory University Student Health Services (EUSHS) provides outpatient care for enrolled Emory students. The mission of Emory University Student Health Services is to empower students to take responsibility for their health and to complement the academic mission of the university by providing collaborative medical, counseling and health promotion services that result in a healthy campus culture. Student Health Services is committed to providing caring professional clinical services to a diverse student body and to reducing the stigma associated with seeking mental health services.  Appointments are scheduled by calling (404) 727-7551 (press 1) during office hours, or through the online appointment system (Your Patient Portal).


Substance Abuse Risk Reduction


The Office of Health Promotion (OHP) offers free, confidential and nonjudgmental alcohol and substance abuse screening, consultation, and referrals. The program allows you to discuss concerns about your own substance abuse or that of a loved one, discover alternative coping strategies, and develop an action plan to meet your goals, as you define them. OHP offers initial screening interviews, substance abuse education and case management, harm reduction and recovery maintenance, and referrals. Women’s Recovery Group


The Emory Brain Health Center offers group therapy for females ages 18-25 with problematic substance use. If you are interested in learning more about joining the group, please call Dr. Hunnicutt at (404) 779-1426 or Dr. Welsh at (404) 727-5756.
