Dr. Sonja Swanson, ScD, in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health seeks a data analyst. The researcher will work primarily on applications in suicide prevention, and will have the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of collaborators spanning expertise in epidemiology, statistics, health policy, law, mental health, injury, and economics. The researcher will collaborate on designing studies using existing observational data; implementing statistical analyses; and interpreting results. The researcher will take a lead role in writing and executing code for the statistical analyses. The datasets used by this research line include large, longitudinal datasets; multilevel datasets; and triangulation and integration of datasets arising from multiple sources.
Qualifications or expectations:
- Master’s degree epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field plus 5 years of data analytic experience; Ph.D. in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of causal inference methods
- Proficiency in R and/or SAS
- Experience working with large, longitudinal datasets
- Experience working with multilevel datasets preferred
- Experience working with administrative data (e.g., electronic medical records data) preferred
