Digital Scholarship Workshops, Emory Center for Digital Scholarship

This semester’s workshop series features a line-up of incredible presenters to give you research and pedagogy inspiration using digital scholarship tools. Workshops will be held in two formats: in-person and online.

Back by popular demand, in-person workshops will be hands-on workshops held face-to-face in Woodruff Library 312 on the third floor of the Woodruff Library (across from the Jones Room and near the Schatten Gallery). These workshops will include overviews of software as well as hands-on exercises to practice using them and will be held on Tuesdays from 1-2:30pm.

Online workshops will be held on Wednesdays from 1-2pm via Zoom and will also be recorded and available afterward on our ECDS Workshops site for Emory students, faculty, and staff: https://scholarblogs.emory.edu/ecds-workshops/. You can also go back and watch over 35 previous workshops on topics like manipulating and visualizing data using popular tools like R, Python, and Tableau.

Beyond MVP with Arthur Simoneto Skills Builder Workshop, The Hatchery Center for Innovation

Arthur will share practical steps and strategic insights on how to move beyond creating something “viable” and instead develop products and companies that are truly lovable. Participants will leave with actionable tools and a checklist of essentials to help their startup stand out in the market.

The Hatchery Incubator applications are OPEN!

The Hatchery Incubator is back and looking for big ideas, bold thinkers, and student founders ready to take the next step.

This hands-on program is offered to student founders with nonprofit or for-profit ventures in early stages and is open to both undergraduate and graduate Emory University students, regardless of academic concentration.

Capstone Kickoff Session, Department of Epidemiology

What: Led by Dr. Julie Gazmararian – this session will introduce you to CARE – our Capstone partner organization, along with details for each of the available Capstone projects.

When: Tuesday, November 18th from 12:00pm-1:00pm

You don’t want to miss this session – you will be asked to rank your top choices, and these rankings will be used to make group assignments. Be on the lookout for a calendar invite with location information later this fall.


Thesis Kickoff, Department of Epidemiology

What: Session to provide advice on navigating the thesis process!

Fundamentals of Pathophysiology for Public Health (EPI 590R), RSPH

At its core, public health is about understanding and preventing diseases. Hence, disease processes are central to the public health mission. This course will provide the foundations needed to understand the biology of disease processes from a public health perspective. The course covers a range of infectious and chronic diseases. Fundamentals of Pathophysiology for Public Health is designed to be widely-accessible to MPH and Ph.D. students with only a fundamental knowledge of human biology.

This course is an approved elective for the Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology certificate.

This course will be held on Thursdays from 1PM-2:50 this fall.

Prerequisite: college level human biology, cell biology or biochemistry


Social Impact Management (OAM536), Emory University
