Social Media Intern, Emory University

The Emory Global Diabetes Research Center (EGDRC) is looking for a creative, self-starting Social Media Intern to join their communications team. If you’re passionate about storytelling, digital media, and public health—and you have an eye for design—this is the role for you!

What You’ll Do:
• Assist in creating engaging social media content for platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
• Write clear, compelling captions, blog snippets, and posts that reflect our voice and mission
• Design graphics using Canva and edit short-form videos in Adobe Premiere Pro (Reels, stories, and explainers)
• Help plan and manage the content calendar
• Track performance metrics (reach, engagement, clicks) and suggest content optimizations
• Stay current on social media trends to help EGDRC connect meaningfully with our audience
• Support the development of digital campaigns tied to research milestones, awareness months, and events
• Collaborate with researchers and staff to translate complex ideas into accessible digital content

An Ideal Candidate Will Be:
• A strong communicator with experience writing for blogs and social media
• Skilled in Canva and Adobe Premiere (Photoshop/Illustrator is a plus!)
• Creative and detail-oriented with a keen eye for visual storytelling
• Familiar with social media strategy and content trends
• Able to take initiative and manage time independently
• Interested in public health, research, or health communication is a bonus!
• Able to come to the office/appropriate location for occasional events or in-person tasks.
