Emory Libraries has been selected to host the 2025 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership Symposium, which will be held Feb. 26–March 1 in the Woodruff Library’s Jones Room.
The ARL Annual Leadership Symposium is a professional development program for those in library degree programs, focused on ARL’s strategic priorities, career transitions, and networking in research libraries and archives. It is a significant event in the two-year ARL Kaleidoscope Program, an initiative that supports the recruitment pipeline among its member institutions by ensuring a new generation of professionals are represented and prepared for careers in academic and research libraries and archives.
The program provides financial support for Master of Library and Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) education to ensure student success. In addition, to help the students thrive on their individual journeys to becoming scholars, the program provides a diverse range of professional development and community building opportunities. These include the chance to participate in relevant leadership and career development training and receive important career guidance and mentorship.
“We are delighted to serve as host for the Kaleidoscope Leadership Symposium,” says Lisa A. Macklin, associate vice provost and university librarian at Emory University. “We are looking forward to welcoming the outstanding cohort of scholars in this program and playing a small role in their professional development. Several of our library colleagues have benefited from the Kaleidoscope program, and we are honored to give back by serving as a host.”
Several librarians and staff members from the Emory Libraries plan to present at the symposium on various topics, including working with faculty and classes, archivist work, job-hunting and interviewing advice, and other subjects:
