COVID Postdoctoral Fellow, CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health

The CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health is recruiting an epidemiology postdoctoral fellow to work on COVID-19, mental health, and vaccine research areas, topics that are part of a large portfolio of research on the impacts of the US COVID-19 pandemic and public health response. The fellow will join a large team of investigators and staff that run the national CHASING COVID Cohort(C3) Study, launched in late March 2020, and on a new, cohort-linked three year NIH grant to test the efficacy of an intervention designed to increase vaccination among adults with depression and anxiety. Furthermore, there will be opportunities for mentorship by senior epidemiologists and public health scholars, first authorship on publications, and contributions to studies in development. The fellow would be expected to: 1) quickly become familiar with the study design and datasets being used in the Chasing COVID Cohort study; 2) rapidly conduct longitudinal analyses, draft, and publish papers, including first-authored papers, in peer-reviewed journals using data from the CHASING COVID Cohort and other related datasets; 3) lead, collaborate on, and support analyses and manuscripts being led by other members of the CHASING COVID Cohort investigative team; and 4) contribute to grant applications, as applicable and interested.
Stipend and time period: Post-doctoral fellow stipends range from $60,000-$85,000, depending on the number of years of post-PhD experience. With an expected hire date of Summer 2023, the 12-month position comes with a one year hire commitment, and further extension, depending on funding availability and performance. This can be a remote position, and visa sponsorship is available as long as the applicant currently resides in the United States. Interested candidates should apply with a cover letter and resume.
Minimum qualifications
- PhD in epidemiology, with a preferred focus on infectious diseases or mental health and epidemiological and biostatistical methods
- Excellent data management and analysis skills
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and execute projects independently and efficiently
- Excellent track record of first authored peer-reviewed publications (as appropriate for level of experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- Team player
- Experience with longitudinal data analysis
- Ability to review and write code in SAS (fine to primarily code in R but the team uses SAS and you must be able to operate with SAS)
- Data visualization experience
- Willingness to mentor epidemiology masters and doctoral students on analysis of CHASING COVID Cohort Study data
