Administrative Fellowship Program, UCI Health

The UCI Health Administrative Fellowship is a 12-month, project-based experience that aims to develop future healthcare leaders through immersion in an academic health system environment. Under the guidance of the UCI Health chief executive officer and chief operating officer, the fellow will support key hospital and health system-based initiatives and projects. 

This is a paid, contract position with benefits. Applications will be coordinated through the UCI Health internal job posting system. Selected candidates must be able to provide proof of work authorization or legal right to work. 

This position requires the completion of an MHA, MBA, MPH or other master’s degree in a related field between July 1, 2023, and July 1, 2025.

Candidates finishing master’s degree programs requiring an administrative residency after completing classroom curricula are eligible to apply. 

Candidates should have:

  • A strong interest in healthcare administration
  • Excellent written or oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

GRA-Emory Centers: Program Evaluation, Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance

The Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance (Emory Centers), helps clients and their partners develop the professional skills, evidence-based programs, and policy action needed to build healthier communities. Emory Centers provides innovative trainings, technical assistance, and materials to build the knowledge and skills to foster strong leadership, increase organizational capacity, and strengthen partnerships. Clients include state and local departments of health, non-profit organizations, and foundations. Services span across all public health issues, risk factors, and professional competencies. Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance is a part of the Rollins School of Public Health’s Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) department. 

Emory Center’s subcenter for Program Evaluation and Quality Improvement (PEQI) is a specialty subcenter dedicated to continuous quality improvement through feedback on how programs, practices, and information systems are working in practice. PEQI provides comprehensive planning and evaluation assistance for programs, projects, grants, coalitions, and information systems. PEQI works collaboratively with clients to identify effective solutions that enhance the performance of public health professionals and organizations, and the quality of programs and practices. 

Position Summary: This Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) position involves providing administrative support for the PEQI team. The GRA will primarily work with the PEQI team and other PEQI faculty and staff to support program evaluation and assist in the collection of necessary data for reporting and accreditation purposes. Key responsibilities will be supporting the Evaluation Team in: designing, modifying, deploying, and closing online surveys, monitoring responses, sending follow up emails as needed, writing survey reports, helping assemble evaluation reports. This position will give the GRA the opportunity to gain an understanding of and build skills in program evaluation and analyses; project management principles; and use of electronic survey software. Through the position, the GRA will gain exposure to the groundwork of program evaluation from developing questions, revising the evaluation plan as needed, to presenting data to stakeholders. 

Qualifications: Requires knowledge of all Microsoft applications, strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a dedication to creating quality work 

Location: Offices are located in the Grace Crum Rollins (GCR) building.

Epidemiologist – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Consulting and collaborating with statistical, data science, and public health professionals in the collection, linkage, processing, coding, classification, and analysis of public health surveillance.
  • Evaluating and interpreting data extracts and reports from various systems assessing relevant data sources” validity and reliability to meet project needs to aid stakeholders in understanding and utilizing analytical reports.
  • Assisting in preparing comprehensive reports that include discussion of substantive issues related to data science methodology for public health surveillance and related applications
  • Producing static and interactive data visualizations to communicate findings to internal and external audiences.
  • Planning and carrying out quality control programs and selects appropriate epidemiologic methods to be used in quality control analysis for key influenza and respiratory pathogens.
  • Providing scientific advice in coordinating and maintaining public health informatics project goals, objectives, and priorities within the CDC and in the public health community.
  • Performing scientific work responsible for evaluating and developing approaches for strengthening the standardization and utility of national health information systems, their products, policies, and processes, with specific emphasis on electronic data interchange and electronic media.
  • Providing advice on the application of IT to the development and promotion of uniform data elements in national health information systems.
  • Manages projects involved with public health informatics and serves as a subject matter expert in the design and implementation of IT systems integrating epidemiologic and other information from a scientific perspective.

The Faces of Addiction and Recovery Panel, Breakthru House and RSPH

The Rollins School of Public Health and Breakthru House are collaborating to host a panel about addiction and recovery for women in need. We will hear from women in recovery share their perspectives on the policies and services required to eradicate the stigma of addiction while ensuring effective treatment leading to recovery for women in need.

The event will be from 1:30 to 3:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Rollins School of Public Health–Grace Crum Rollins (GCR) Building in the Rita Anne Rollins Room 860. Light refreshments will be available. Please register for the event at this link.

Recha has led workshops and activities designed to help students develop successful companies and thrive within organizations. Journal Club, Department of Epidemiology

The Epidemiology Journal Club invites students from all departments at RSPH to join for the first meeting on Monday, 9/9, 12PM-1PM in CNR3001! During the first meeting, attendees will engage with two concepts: critique and epistemology (how do we know what we know?). Throughout the semester, there will be bi-weekly meetings to cultivate a safe, interactive space for students to review epidemiologic literature and discuss key methodological and substantive concepts in public health. Meetings will be fun, informative, and intellectually engaging. All students are welcome!

Registration is open for the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship’s Fall 2024 workshops, which start September 11th!

This semester’s workshop series features a round-up of incredible presenters to give you research and pedagogy inspiration using digital scholarship tools. Workshops will be held on Wednesdays from 1-2pm via Zoom and will also be recorded and available afterward on our brand new ECDS Workshops site for Emory students, faculty, and staff: https://scholarblogs.emory.edu/ecds-workshops/. Graduate Community of Digital Scholars, Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry

The Graduate Community of Digital Scholars is a joint program of the Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry, the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship, and the Digital Publishing in the Humanities initiative. The goal of GCDS is to offer a supportive and welcoming space for Emory graduate students to share and discuss works-in-progress which engage with the digital humanities, whether dissertation research, public humanities projects with digital components, grant applications for digital projects, or pedagogical materials using digital tools or technologies.

The format for AY 2024-25 is a works-in-progress workshop with monthly meetings over lunch. Participants are expected to attend consistently and to carefully review fellow participants’ pre-circulated materials prior to each session. Participants may share written material, digital prototypes, or a mixture of the two. Data tables or databases cannot themselves be the entire focus of a works-in-progress discussion. Applications for grants or other opportunities should contain a substantial and explicit focus on digital work.

Former GCDS participants are warmly encouraged to attend and to share their work, though presentation slots will prioritize students who have never shared work at GCDS before. The 2024-25 workshop will run from September to May. Registrations will close on September 13, 2024.
