The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Participation in the development of systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines, which includes management of expert panels, collaboration with the ADA library in conducting search strategies, citation management, critical appraisal of clinical studies, data abstraction, data analysis, writing and submission of manuscripts, and collaboration informing dissemination strategies.

Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience in/with investigating and analyzing scientific studies and preparing scientific manuscripts, in particular, systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines.

Previous experience critically appraising clinical studies; and analyzing articles published in peer-reviewed dental and medical journals.
Must have the ability to contribute to evidence synthesis projects and clinical practice guideline documents, develop and maintain professional internal and external relationships, coordinate and pursue multiple projects and deadlines, independently and simultaneously; and critically analyze and evaluate data to draw sound conclusions, decisions, and recommendations.

Must have excellent communication and project management skills.
Must have knowledge of evidence synthesis methods, with a strong background in statistics.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Proficient in EndNote (or similar reference software)

Highly Desirable Skills:  Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or another of the health or life sciences that includes training in experimental design and statistics.
Knowledge of statistical packages (e.g. SPSS).
Previous experience in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Community Benefit Practicum – Food as Medicine, Grady

Grady’s Community Benefit team is responsible for the triennial Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and develops the strategy to implement the resulting Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). Two of our top priorities are diabetes and hypertension. Using the Atlanta Regional Collaborative for Health Improvement (ARCHI) framework, Grady works to enable healthy behaviors and improve care coordination to both prevent and manage these chronic conditions.

In 2017, Grady established the Food as Medicine (FAM) Partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Open Hand Atlanta to address food access and chronic disease among Grady patients, employees and the greater community. Through this partnership, Grady will be opening a FAM Center at Grady Memorial Hospital which will include a Food Pharmacy, Teaching Kitchen, and Farmers Market. Grady is looking for two students to assist with implementation and evaluation of FAM programming including the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription (FVRx) Program, Fresh Food Carts at Grady’s Brookhaven clinic, FAM volunteer opportunities, employee wellness efforts, and grant reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

The practicum students will work directly with Grady’s Community Benefit Manager in the Strategic Planning and Business Development Department. Tasks may include:

· Assist with data collection, entry and analysis for FVRx program surveys and clinical data

· Support patient engagement in FVRx

· Support FAM volunteer recruitment, onboarding and training

· Coordinate volunteer schedules and field volunteer inquiries

· Participate in FAM Center and Fresh Food Cart volunteer activities in order to refine roles, responsibilities, and training needs

· Continue development of employee engagement opportunities related to FAM and develop evaluation plan based on selected strategies

· Assist with required FAM reporting for research and philanthropic grants

Timeline

The practicum may take place over one or two semesters. The Food as Medicine Center is expected to open in October 2019.

Students will be expected to complete a background check, drug screening, and health clearance through the ACEMAPP platform at their own expense (estimated cost is $100-150).

Public Health Program Associate, PRISM

We are seeking a highly organized Public Health Program Associate to support the iTech project. iTech is a 5-year project housed within the PRISM Health research group in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health Emory University.

This project, currently in its fourth year, is a collaboration between Emory University and University of North Carolina. The UNC/Emory Center for Innovative Technology (iTech) aims to lower the burden of HIV infection by developing and evaluating innovative, interdisciplinary research on technology-based interventions (utilizing mobile apps) across the HIV prevention and care continuum for at-risk or infected youth aged 15-24 years in the United States.

This role will require overseeing study activities in an effective, detailed, organized and efficient manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to participant recruitment, enrollment and retention, liaising with study partners, performing data analysis and representing studies during project meetings.

Under limited supervision, uses basic knowledge of public health principles to participate in recruitment activities of assigned studies, assist with the maintenance of the studies’ recruitment strategy and protocol.

Enter and manage participant data in various systems including participant set up, messaging, incentive payments, randomization and app account set-ups.
Oversee study retention using the SMART participant management system; develop and maintain study retention strategies through routine participant communication.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of study protocols, forms, questionnaires and documentation.
Work closely with the data management team to ensure accuracy and validity of data along with a smooth study flow; update weekly reports for team distribution.
Collaborate with outside organizations for more targeted recruitment efforts.
Attend recruitment related events, potentially outside of regular business hours and/or on weekends.
Attend all scheduled supervisory, department and study meetings.
Performs related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in public health, a master’s of science degree in public health or health education, or a master’s in development practice from an accredited school.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through contribution to a manuscript or report or draft thesis
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and interact with diverse team members

Ability to work independently with keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Street Medicine Volunteer Oppertunity

Street Medicine is now accepting volunteer applications! Street Medicine is the result of a partnership between Health Students Taking Action Together (H-STAT) and Mercy Care Hospital, and it involves pairing allied health students with a mobile Street Medicine team to provide the unsheltered of Atlanta with psychiatric and primary care. It’s an amazing opportunity for students who are interested in using their clinical skills to give back to the Atlanta community. We are now accepting applications for a new round of volunteers to come out and work with us!

Want to volunteer with Street Medicine?

Health Students Taking Action Together, Inc. partners with Mercy Care to provide allied health student volunteers with an opportunity to work as a part of a Street Medicine team. The Street Medicine program provides primary care and psychiatric services to those living unsheltered in downtown Atlanta by traveling to these communities and offering on-site care. In addition to two student volunteers, this team includes a peer-outreach specialist who is well connected to the daily ‘heartbeat’ of the homeless community, one or more clinicians, and an RN/administrator to ensure that the evening runs smoothly.

In order to volunteer for Street Medicine, you must:

be currently in or have completed at least one clinical rotation in your graduate program prior to the start of your volunteer month (e.g. If your first clinical rotation is in August, you can apply for the months of September forward)
be able to serve on 4 to 5 consecutive Mondays (5:45-10:00pm), Tuesday (2:45-7:00pm), Wednesday (2:45-7:00pm), or Thursday (1:30-5:30pm)
submit a short application by 11:59p on Friday, 07/26/19.

Attend a MANDATORY training session on either:
Thursday 8/08/19 from 6:30p-8:30p
Thursday 8/15/19 from 6:30p-8:30p
Students who have previously attended a Street Medicine orientation are excused, but there are otherwise NO exceptions.

Community Benefit Practicum – Walk the Line, Grady

In 2017, Grady launched a community-based wellness program, Walk the Line, in partnership with the Atlanta BeltLine. The goal of the program is to reduce chronic disease risk factors among residents of neighborhoods adjacent to the BeltLine. During this ten week program, participants walk on the trail, learn from health experts, share healthy meals, receive health coaching, and build relationships with residents who have similar health goals. Grady is looking for two students to assist with implementation and evaluation of Walk the Line.

Responsibilities

The practicum students will work directly with Grady’s Community Benefit Manager in the Strategic Planning and Business Development Department. Tasks may include:

· Coordinate weekly WTL schedule including guest speakers, participant materials, and health coach communication

· Lead participant recruitment and enrollment

· Assist with development of program curriculum and participant resources

· Collect and analyze participant data related to health knowledge, behaviors, and outcomes

· Draft communications materials and reports

· Serve as a health coach for program participants

Schedule permitting, the practicum student may assist with other Community Benefit initiatives; these may include:

· Draft Community Benefit communications materials or reports

· Research best practices to inform Grady’s CHIP

· Support Grady’s Food as Medicine program implementation or evaluation

Timeline

The practicum may take place over one or two semesters. Grady has two sessions of Walk the Line planned: fall 2019 and spring 2020.

Health Programs Analyst

Responsibilities
The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Health Programs Analyst in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing dedicated evaluation analysis in the AHA’s Center for Health Metrics and Evaluation (CHME). Additional responsibilities include assisting with development and implementation of program evaluation activities for AHA programs and initiatives aimed at the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and promotion of ideal cardiovascular health.

This is a full time, benefits eligible grant funded position. Current funding is through 6/30/2020 with the possibility of extension.

Essential Job Duties:

Supports development and implementation of program evaluation data collection activities in the Centers for Health Metrics and Evaluation for programs across the portfolio of AHA programs and initiatives.
Assists in the management of CHME projects conducted internally.
Writes sections of analytic reports and proposals for new projects.
Develops and/or and refines standard study measures, develops and implements surveys (paper and online), and oversees quality control of data collection
Develops fact-sheets and brief reports; substantiates facts for AHA activities.
Assists in the production of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and presentations; provides input for presentations at scientific conferences and meetings.
