Exclusions of certain countries in Emory’s insurance policies may leave Emory unin- sured when students, faculty, or staff travel to them or particular areas within them. The list of excluded countries includes Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burundi, Central African Republic, Colombia, Cote d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Indone- sia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Macedonia, Montenegro, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, West Bank and Gaza, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.

If you are planning travel to one of the excluded countries, please let the Office of Risk and Insurance Services (ORIS) know by contacting Cheryl Ritchie at cheryl.ritchie@ emoryhealthcare.org at least 30 days in advance of travel. ORIS can inform travelers of potential limitations in coverage and attempt to purchase additional coverage for the traveler if necessary. There will be an additional charge for such coverage, depending on the country to which the traveler is going.
