Cayuse Tips: Use Firefox Version 21

Cayuse recommends using Firefox; therefore, if you are using another browser, it is recommended that you change to Firefox.  If you are using Firefox, please check the version that you are currently using.  If it is newer than version 21, follow the steps below to roll back to a previous version of Firefox.

To roll Firefox back:

  1. Go to this page: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox.
  2. Under the Sub-Heading ‘I still want to downgrade — where can I get the previous version?’ you should see an option for Firefox 21.  Click and download the file.
  3. Open the file that was just downloaded.  It should be called ‘Firefox Setup 21.0.exe’  Once the installer is open, quit Firefox.
  4. Follow the steps to install Firefox 21 on the computer.  This will replace the newer version of Firefox, but all of your settings and bookmarks should be in place.
  5. After the install is complete, start Firefox and you should be able to access Cayuse 424 normally.

You’ll also want to disable automatic updates.  To do so, just follow these steps:

  1. While in Firefox, click the Firefox button at the top left of the window.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Navigate to the Update tab.
  5. Under the category ‘Firefox updates’, select ‘Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them.’
  6. Click OK.  Now you will be prompted for updates, but they will not install automatically.  Until this issue is resolved, we suggest holding off on the new version of Firefox.

Please do not click About Firefox under the Help menu as that will cause the update to download regardless of your settings.
