Effort Certification Deadline – November 29, 2023

Effort certification is a requirement for those working on sponsored projects at Emory. We are currently in the effort reporting process for the MARCH – AUGUST 2023 period.  As stated in our effort reporting policy, forms must be completed within 90 days of the end of the effort period. That means Wednesday, November 29, 2023 is the deadline for completion. If you are assigned as a pre-reviewer, please sign in to ERS and review any pending forms listed on your home page. If you are an employee working on sponsored projects, please keep an eye out for an automated email coming from the ERS system alerting you that your form is ready to certify. If you are unsure if you have any forms to certify, you can sign into the system (https://effort.emory.edu) and you will see a TO DO box on your home screen.

Uncertified forms that are past the deadline date are an audit risk for the University and could result in findings and a loss of funding. We need your continued support to ensure that we reach compliance. The following steps are an important step in reaching our goals:

  • Review Policy: Familiarize yourselves with the updated policy: Review Policy 2.126 Effort Reporting to understand the requirements comprehensively and the Effort Certification Procedure (attached).
  • View Video: Take time to watch this short Certifying Effort Training Video, specifically designed to make the policy easy to understand.
  • Open Dialogue: Email help@emory.edu with questions or concerns.
  • Peer Support: Encourage colleagues to share tips on efficiently handling effort reporting.
  • Continuous Learning: Regularly attend compliance update meetings to keep ourselves current.
  • Sign in to ERS: Review your home page to see if forms are pending
  • Review effort support site: Additional resources are available on Emory’s Effort Certification
