Found Poetry Circle isn’t a club. It doesn’t have an executive board, general body meetings, or a constitution. Found Poetry Circle is an invitation to the Oxford community to come together and enjoy poetry. The idea emerged from many conversations with Dr. Sarah Higinbotham, who like me, wanted to create shared spaces at Oxford for both community and poetry: we wanted to foster the mutual element of poetry, words read out loud, and heard, and loved. Our first event, a marathon Paradise Lost reading, beautifully exemplified how poetry can foster community.
