Meaningful Friendships without Physical Proximity

As I contemplated how to help my Emory students form substantive friendships within their classes, even while studying remotely, I invited two of my friends — Dr. Richard Dawson and Professor Mike Hanne — to talk about how we became friends even though we live as far away from each other as New Zealand and the U.S. We are seeing each other here for the first time on Zoom!
Sincere thanks to James Boyd White for introducing us.
