Welcome Dr. Chris Barrett

“It does make me feel better about humanity,” said Chris Barrett in a recent interview, “to think that there are moments in history when people didn’t think it was all about them, that maybe, nature has its own plans and its own desire to play.”

Professor Barrett will talk about some of those historical moments — and trees, and Renaissance ecology — at Emory’s Oxford College on Thursday, February 27, in Library 201 from noon-1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Dr. Barrett has won teaching, research, and advocacy awards, including awards for Outstanding Feminist Activist, Outstanding Professor, and Outstanding Graduate Faculty. Her most recent book won a Rainmaker Award.

While her professional accomplishments have contributed to innumerable people’s understandings of early modern maps, trees, melons, poetry, butterflies, pedagogy, and birds, she is also known as a loving friend. I am privileged to count her as mine.
