She is currently working on research under the mentorship of Kathleen Martin on characterizing sex-specific relationships between NMPOU (non-medical prescription opioid use) and internalizing behaviors.

Her research interests include mental health stigma in Asian American communities and the connection between other psychopathologies and substance use. She is currently working under Natalia Jaume-Feliciosi to investigate the relationship between behavioral traits and stress on polysubstance use in the college-age population.
Sarah Jung is a junior at Emory University studying anthropology, human biology, and chemistry. Her research interests involve using cultural and behavioral perspectives as a lens for clinical research, particularly in relation to substance use and disordered eating. Sophia Gomez is a senior at Emory University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Global Health on the Pre-Med Track. Her research interests include the epigenetic influences of substance abuse and the intersection of mental health disparities in underrepresented communities. She is currently working under Natalia Jaume-Feliciosi to investigate how stressors interact with the epigenome and may manifest an increased risk for psychopathology.
Sanchi Subiah is a Biology major and Anthropology minor at Emory University (’25). Currently, she works in the BioBGA Team as an undergraduate research assistant in the BGA lab. During her time in the lab, Sanchi works on a literature review project that investigates the application of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) in modeling substance use disorders (SUDs). As a research assistant, Sanchi is responsible for screening and reviewing scientific papers, organizing numerical data, creating codes for data management, as well as conducting data extraction and analysis. Carla Aleman is a Senior at Emory University, graduating in May 2024 with a B.S. in Psychology. Her research interests include studying how environmental impacts, including substance use, have long-term effects on children, including disorders such as ADHD or ASD. Currently at the BGA Lab, she is working under Ami Ikeda to investigate how prenatal substance exposure can impact puberty onset and, separately, its association with ASD. After graduating, Carla plans to attend medical school with the long-term goal of training for pediatric surgery.
