Overview
Decatur, named after U.S. Naval hero Stephan Decatur, is one of Atlanta’s great intown suburbs. With bars, parks, and coffee shops, there is plenty for college students to see. Just five minutes by car from Emory University’s campus, Decatur is a cool neighborhood easily accessible to Emory Student. Well known for its as a historic neighborhood, Druid Hills is also the neighborhood where Emory University is located. A quick walk from Emory’s campus is Emory Village, which has restaurants, coffee shops, and a mysterious old gas station.
Must-See Stuff
The major places of interest in this neighborhood are concentrated in the City of Decatur and Emory Village. In the City of Decatur, are many restaurants to explore such as Victory Sandwich Bar, Cakes & Ale and Iberian Pig. You can also get a taste of the local art scene at Eddie’s Attic, Java Monkey or HomeGrown Decatur. If the City of Decatur is too far, take a short walk down to Emory Village! Here you can grab a bite to eat at Romeo’s New York Pizza, Falafel King, Zoe’s Kitchem, Dave’s Cosmic Subs, Doc Chey’s, Slice and Pint or Chipotle. Don’t forget to get dessert at Yogli-Mogli!
How to Get There
Trying to get to Downtown Decatur from Emory? Emory’s got you covered with CCTMA Shuttles, which run Monday – Friday from 5:30 am – 8:00 pm. The CCTMA Route stops along Clairmont, North Decatur, and Clifton roads between the Clifton Corridor and MARTA’s Decatur Station. The 15 minute ride into neighboring Decatur is quick, easy, and reliable.
