PSYCH 223/720: Behavioral Effects of Drugs

Each Fall, Dr. Palmer teaches PSYC 223/720P: Behavioral Effects of Drugs to both undergraduate and graduates at Emory. This course provides a review of the behavioral and neurobiological effects of major psychoactive drugs. Students learn about the mechanisms and actions of psychoactive drugs, how substances can become problematic for some (but not others), and the factors that determine addiction liability and treatment. He integrates real data into his lectures to expose students to the nuances of research in substance use and regularly invites guest speakers to highlight the subspecialties of substance use research/treatment.
