This is a narrative story (记叙文) about a person’s experience during the Cultural Revolution.  You can learn about people’s experiences by doing the following:

• Interview parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, or any one you know.
• Read 冯骥才<<一百个人的十年>>.  The book is online at http://www.my285.com/zj/wg/ybgr/.  This book is an oral history of the Cultural Revolution.  In 1986, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the end of the Cultural Revolution and the 30th of its beginning, Feng conducted extensive interviews with 100 people who lived through that harrowing decade. The book is a collection of the personal accounts.  The English translation of the book, titled Voices from the whirlwind : an oral history of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, is available at the reserve desk in Woodruff Library for Chn 402.

Requirements:

• Use third person voice through the story.  Avoid your own comments and evaluations.
• Respect historical facts, events, as well as the people you write about.  Do not make up major events by yourself.
• Include descriptions, conversations, actions that help to portrait the person’s characteristics and feelings.
• Type using 14 size font, double space.
• Two to three pages long.
